Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

This is where we answer the most common questions that our prospective customers might have.

Why does Skyfibernet use its own network of towers and aerials?
Any cable based network has a built-in disadvantage that the further the customer’s premises is from the exchange the more the signal will degrade because of the cable and the other customers who are drawing from it along the way.

Not only that, but a cable operator is not in a position to actually see the individual service and can only talk generalities and offers of speeds ‘up to’.

What needs to be done to install Skyfibernet?
To have a Skyfibernet connection, your property needs a ‘line of sight’ of one of our increasing wide network of Towers. We can confirm the availability of our service from your address.We then need to fit a small receiver to your roof or balcony and connect that to a Wi-Fi Router to connect all the areas of your property. Ordinarily the Installation Fee will be around 750TL and fitting it will take only a short while.

(Feb ’18  we currently can cover all areas of Fethiye, Yanıklar, Üzümlü, Hisarönü, Ovacık and will reach Ölüdeniz, Faralya and Göcek this Spring)

Do I need Turkish Residency?
No. But you will be required to sign a contract for a year to use us for a minimum period in each year.
Can I use static ip and why do i need it?
A static IP address is available at a small extra charge.  You will need this for CCTV Camera systems, or to report occupancy for Villa Letting.
Do you have VPN service?
Yes we do. Our VPN service which again is available for a small extra charge, will allow your computers and phones to have a non Turkish location.
What service will be right for me?
Depending whether you are in Turkey full time or you choose to come and go, you can the service that suits you best. The period contracts for 3 or 6 months can be taken at any time over the next 12 months.   This is easily done via your own account page off our website.  Reminders about a contract coming to an end, or a months useage ending are sent by SMS and Email and you can choose to renew or delay till the property is due to be occupied again.

For those people staying longer than 6 months in any 12 month period:  It’s possible to buy another 3 month or 6 month package, which will last another 12 months or take advantage of our 12 month package which provides the best value and charges for only 10 months.

Skyfibernet Guarantees me a Connection Speed. What does that mean?
Firstly, unlike TurkTelekom we do not operate an ‘arbitrary’ download limit which applies restrictions to accounts according to their useage. With Skyfibernet the speed you contracted to is the speed you get.
How do you know the Speed ?
Unlike an Internet Service provided over Telephone lines, which has many many users on the same cable, each of our customers receives a direct signal from one of our Towers or Masts.  Each individual account is visible to us and our Technology ensures that each receives the contracted speed at their own Router where it enters their premises.

In turn, with our suppliers we are a major account, our equipment monitors our supply continuously and adjusts what we are buying to ensure a smooth supply.   Yes, we can be disrupted, but if we are we are a Priority Customer.
